KUSC to live broadcast and stream L.A. Opera’s opening night

KUSC, 91.5 on your FM dial, will be broadcasting live from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at 6 p.m. on Saturday, when Los Angeles Opera launches its season with a double bill of “Gianni Schicchi” and “Pagliacci.”

Placido Domingo will be singing the (baritone) title role in the first opera and conducting the second one, surely a very rare occurrence in a major opera house.

For those of you not in the area or who no longer own a radio, you can stream the performance at KUSC.org.

Not that you’ll notice on the radio but the productions are by Woody Allen (the first time I saw it I enjoyed it very much) and Franco Zeffirelli (which is just as you’d expect).
