I completely agree with your review. And, well written as usual. The Brahms was terrific and I thought the experiment of the 14-movement atonal suite didn’t work. For me, hearing all three together like that actually lessened the power of each one. The Webern, which I love, was swallowed up in between the Schoenberg and the Berg instead of being little gems on their own.
That last movement of the Webern is incredible, and was almost completely wasted in context. More of a good thing is not necessarily better.
