Don’t remember the rest of this symphony, but the first movement, though less than great, still sounds like music that deserves to be performed, at least occasionally. The playing is, not surprisingly, superb. The sound is – and that is somewhat surprising, at least for me – extremely fine for a recording made in the middle of the last century: BS (before stereo) if i am not mistaken. The original was probably very good to begin with, and then remastering must have been really masterfully done.
