Pianist Jeremy Denk will give a solo recital at the Soka Performing Arts Center in Aliso Viejo on Sunday at 3 p.m. As a public service, here’s his program, only recently released:
Bartok – Sonata, Sz.80
Liszt – Prelude on “Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen”, S.179
Liszt – I vidi in terra angelici costumi (No. 123) from Sonetti del Petrarca, S. 161
Liszt – Après une lecture du Dante, fantasia quasi sonata from Années de pèlerinage, Deuxième Année: Italie, S. 161
Liszt – Isolde’s Liebestod, S. 447 after Wagner
Bach – Prelude and Fugue in B minor, BWV.869
Beethoven – Sonata No.32 in C minor, Op.111
Only the easy stuff, I see. %^)
I just saw him perform this program last night in Madison. It will astound and thrill you. In my opinion, the Bartok was the weakest piece on the program, but it was still quite good.
Andy, I think you’re right all around, though it was nice to hear the Bartok played that way.
