The staging of this production actually annoyed me when i saw it last Thursday. It was all much too pretty. When those autumn leaves were falling in “strategic” moments of the second act, all I could think of was the great Victor Borge’s hilarious “Autumn Leaves” number. When this was happening, was there anyone in doubt that in the last act we would see snow falling?
Most of the singing by the three main artists was very enjoyable and balance with the orchestra was as close to perfect as I have ever encountered in a live performance.
