Very solid performance. Unfortunately, i was listening to it immediately after the Berlin Phil + HvK rendition of the other Scherzo, so this one was considerably less impressive, though the sound of this recording even on my PC is quite good.
Also, i still have in my ears and my brain the very powerful impression of the first time i heard this symphony in a live concert (while still a teenager over four decades ago), when it was played magnificently by the great Concertgebouw led by the wonderful Bernard Haitink in his prime.
I originally featured a live video of Gunter Wand conducting the same piece with the Berlin Phil. Not only was it beautifully played, but it was very nicely shot. But that was “taken down” for copyright reasons, and I substituted this slightly less impressive video.
