Snapped on a flat screen during yesterday’s halftime show … In case you hadn’t heard, those kids with the string instruments were members of Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, the L.A. Phil’s El Sistema-style youth ensemble. Dudamel could be seen conducting them early in the halftime show, and returned later for the apotheosis cameo. It’s good to have a representative of the art form making inroads into the mainstream. Dudamel also conducted the opening and closing credits of the latest “Star Wars” movie.
