PSO premiere of Schumann 2??? Whoa.
I know, right?
“The Pacific Symphony, for some strange reason, rarely seems to invite guest conductors back.” Any idea why? Or they just like to ‘play the field’?
It could be for any number of reasons, and I don’t really know. So I’ll refrain from guessing.
Best Schumann symphony cycle? Karajan? Szell? Bernstein/Wiener? Kubelik? Maybe Herreweghe?
I always liked Joef Krips in this repertoire by I think he only recorded 1 and 4.
