One of my favorite Bruckner scherzos. Herbert Blomstedt conducts the Staatskapelle Dresden. Some nifty (French) horn playing.

He was always a fine Brucknerian. Probably for the first time in my life, i like a conductor in his 80s more than i did when he was in his 50s or 60s. The orchestra sounds good but not great, though for an ensemble that seemed to exclude majority of humanity, i guess they were doing remarkably well…
A fine Brucknerian and the still undisputed best Nielsenian. For some fun, check out his (free) introduction/interviews for the concerts he’s led the Berlin Phil in (www.digitalconcerthall.com)….
