What the heck is wrong with Long Beach Opera? They used to be a company that did stuff like “King Roger”, “Death in Venice” and other neglected corners of the opera rep, now they do pieces that aren’t operas, not even “musical theater”. They do stuff in swimming pools and parking lots, pieces like the Ellington that should never even get beyond the discussion stage etc.
Oh well, there’s “The Death of Klinghoffer” to look forward to, it’s almost shocking that they didn’t stage it on the Queen Mary.
Hah! Klinghoffer on the Queen Mary. That would have been rich!
