Carlos Kleiber conducts the Vienna Philharmonic (sorry, Lisa) in “Die Libelle” (The Drangonfly), a polka mazur, by Johann Josef Strauss. I’ve been waiting to share this with you. Watch it now before they take the video down.

A lovely work and performance. I remember this version of Carlos Kleiber and the VPO from an earlier posting. To me it sounds like a waltz. By the way, it is by Josef Strauss, the talented brother of Johann Jr. Josef died at the age of 42 and Johann said he was even more talented than himself.
My bad. Yes, I guess it is by Josef. Lots of bad labeling out there. Thanks, Rod.
A perfect short course in the miraculous eloquence of Carlos Kleiber. No wonder we make such a fuss about him… he was the greatest of the age. I asked him about this performance once, and he claimed to have “have stolen it from Clemens Krauss.”
Indeed. Humour in all, music in everything. That was Kleiber. Unmatched.
Lucky you, Charles. You got to chat with Carlos Kleiber.
