These record jackets are from my own collection. Like a true nerd, I even have some of them framed on my wall. At any rate, click on the thumbnails for larger views. For those of you who like these, there’s one more rather bizarre one below.

The Debussy/Monteux is sorta odd, I don’t think I’ve seen the liner notes on the front like that before.
That’s a terrific Xenakis record, nice austere cover.
Isn’t the Rubinstein/Mitropoulos kind of odd in that the colors and design of it look like something from the Soviet era which, of course, Tchaikovsky was long dead by then.
How many of those did you buy again on CD? 🙂
The only one of these that I have on CD is the Debussy/Monteux. I should add that that’s not because I don’t like the others. It’s just that I have a record player to play them with, and there’s not much need to buy the CD incarnations. And I’m not made of money.
Re: Xenakis record. The Cardinal label’s records of 20th century music usually had interesting jacket covers. I have several others.
Boy, two of those album covers brought back memories, the Karajan Bruckner (I seem to recall that all of the DG Karajan Bruckner symphonies had that angel wing motif) and the Giuilini Mahler (with the Maestro bundled up against what I presumed were the Windy City’s winter gales). Thanks for those memories and best of luck in your new “position.”
