As an adult beginner I got pains, too. Rest was what helped and eventually they went away for good.
The flubs every time bothered me, also. But when I played in my teacher’s recitals no one seemed to notice that the tempo varied or that a chord here and there was screwed up. My theory is that we know these pieces sim intimately that they really stand out to us.
