Why a photo of the Dot rather than WDCH?
it’s not because they’re in Vienna. 🙂
WDCH is in the photo …
Also, I grew up listening to LA Phil in DCP, Giulini and all.
Okay, okay, JUST BARELY in the photo….
Why a photo of the Dot rather than WDCH?
Or at least why a photo that is so old? I believe those overgrown ficus trees were cut down right before Disney Hall was completed. So if the photo showed more of what’s to the left, it would reveal the concert hall had yet to be fully completed.
As for Vienna, and thinking of that city’s annual New Year’s Day concerts, I’ve been enjoying videos of the Vienna Philharmonic posted to the Internet. I’ve also been enjoying videos of past broadcasts of the LA Philharmonic available online and an excerpt of its most recent concert posted at the site of PBS’s Great Performances.
Because of a difference in degree of clarity and reverberance, and strength of low notes, my pleasure in listening to music performed by one group is not as high as it listening to the other.
