As a bandsmen, Tim, you must have played your fair share of Grainger. Band music must be what he is primarily known for, but he’s a favorite of mine. His many arrangements for various ensembles (and re-re- arrangements) are charming and great fun. The LA Phil needs to perform his ‘imaginary’ ballet suite ‘The Warriors’ again, which they did at the Hollywood Bowl several years ago. I regret having missed it. More Grainger at the Bowl, or anywhere, would be welcome.
Little known tidbit … Percy Grainger was married on the Hollywood Bowl stage.
