I was wondering when you’d bring back the Erlkonig series, especially given that Matthias Goerne is supposed to be singing this at an upcoming LA Phil concert.
As always, Hilary’s playing is exemplary in terms of precision and cleanliness, and she keeps the pulse going which is very important in this piece. Unfortunately, she is strangely calm and much too careful in the first half of it. After the first two minutes, however, she gets into the character much better and she plays the last part of the piece really beautifully.
